First Reference Panel Day a success
The VL team and users meet to discuss the future
The first annual 'Wider Reference Panel' met on November 26th to consider
the future direction of the Visual Liturgy project. Convened
by the Visual Liturgy Task Group, who oversee the VL project on behalf
of the Archbishops' Council's Publishing Board, the session aimed to provide
a forum for users, the VL team, representatives from the Church of Ireland
and the Methodist Church and the task group themselves to get together
and discuss ideas for the future.
Amongst the subjects up for discussion, the assembled panel considered
how VL could be improved musically (link-ups to hymn books etc) and presentationally
(better options for service sheets and projection) as well as wider ranging
questions of whether VL could become a web based service and, indeed,
how pricing models might change in the future to accomodate such a move.
David Pullinger, chair of the VL Task Group and a member of the Publishing
Board, said:
"The day was incredibly helpful to the Task Group as we plan
our future strategy. One of the strengths of VL has always been its proximity
to its user base and the clear and vocal lines of communication that exist.
We're grateful to all those that attended and I know the Task Group will
value being able to reconvene the group in a year's time."
The next panel will take place in November 2005 and invitations will
be sent out via the VL discussion email lists and forums for users that
wish to take part.
