What's
new in Visual Liturgy 3.0 for Common Worship?
Better service templates
Service templates in Visual Liturgy 3.0 have
been improved by a number of new features.
- Items can be grouped together for easier structuring.
They can be moved and changed as a group as well.
- To keep in line with the Common Worship
design style, headings are now in red rather than
blue. In addition, most new services have a wide left
hand margin. The margin is easy to turn on or off
depending on your preferences.
- Items within a service can be related even if they
are not in the same group. For example, you can specify
that the same text should not be used more than once,
or that if a certain text is used, then another text
must also be used elsewhere in the service.
- Headings in the service can be set to large type
if required.
- The background colour in the service list can be
varied.
Lectionary report
Visual Liturgy 3.0 has a new feature that
lets you view the lectionary for a period, rather than
just a single day. Unlike printed lectionaries, you
can control which type of lectionary day to include,
and which readings or other propers you want to feature.
In addition, you can view the full text for most items. You can find out more
about how
the lectionary report works in the Software
demo.
Full support for the latest versions of Microsoft® Windows® operating
system
Visual Liturgy 3.0 is a 32-bit application that works on all recent
versions of Microsoft® Windows® operating system, back to Windows®
95 and including Windows® XP. Visual Liturgy 3.0 uses the Microsoft®
Windows® registry to store your preferences.
Technical note: Once set up, Visual Liturgy does not require read-write access
to any system directory, so it can be used easily on secure Windows® NT and
Windows® 2000 installations.
Additional font control
You can now specify any font available in your Microsoft® Windows®
operating system setup for Visual Liturgy services. You can also specify parts
of the service to be displayed in small or large type. You can set the size of
font used for small, standard-size and heading texts.
Comprehensive calendar
Visual Liturgy's calendar has been expanded to include
virtually everything found in Common Worship.
The Saint's Days are included with collects and readings.
Visual Liturgy 3.0 also links to the Common of
the Saints. This means that when you plan a service
for a particular Saint's Day, you will automatically
be offered a full choice of readings.
The calendar can also now be resized to enable more
readings to be viewed in the window.
Lectionary extended
The lectionary information in Visual Liturgy 3.0
extends until 2010. This means you can easily plan ahead.
Using the calendar's Find facility, you can query Visual
Liturgy in two ways:
- For any calendar date, find out what it is in the
church year.
- Search for when a particular church year event,
such as Easter, occurs in a specified year.
