Friday, August 18th, 2006

The more observant among you will have noticed that our Tuesday Tip and Friday Fill-in have become less frequent of late. This is partly due to the holiday season, but mainly to the handover of the role of New Media Manager at Church House Publishing from David Green to yours truly, Andrew Sweeney.

Friday fill-in: A smarter way to select a service

Friday, July 14th, 2006

Tim Anderson writes about a new feature in Visual Liturgy Live called ‘meta-templates’: The essence of Visual Liturgy is that you select a type of service, and the software populates it with the correct readings along with other material such as the proper preface in the Eucharistic Prayer, or a seasonal introduction to the peace.

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Since I joined the Church House Publishing team as Assistant New Media Manager last summer I have had the privilege of being part of the Visual Liturgy project team. A growing part of my job has been firstly going to Visual Liturgy training days and then leading them.

These training days and seminars have taken me the length and breadth of the country and I have loved the opportunity to meet the people actually using our product. This week I have met a few of you at the Christian Resources Exhibition in Sandown Park, Esher where I have been running Visual Liturgy seminars all week.

Friday fill-in: Visual Liturgy Style Magic

Friday, May 5th, 2006

This week we had a discussion about the Visual Liturgy data format. One of the major changes between VL3 and VL4 was the move from Rich Text Format to HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for the text format. This gives users a lot of flexibility in how services are displayed. When VL 4.0 was first released you had to manually edit the CSS to take advantage of this, but that is no longer the case. If you go to the File menu and choose Styles, you can use a simple stylesheet editor built into Visual Liturgy.

Primarily, it my responsibility to draft these documents and get them to the point where everyone agrees what we are going to be doing.
