Announcing Additional Baptism Texts in Accessible Language

We are pleased to announce that the Additional Baptism Texts in Accessible Language are now available to Visual Liturgy subscribers.

You can update this by using online update, which you can find in the Edit menu in Visual Liturgy’s top bar.

These texts are supplementary to those in the existing Common Worship: Christian Initiation. They have been authorized in response to a motion by the Liverpool Diocesan Synod requesting texts in language that is more accessible to many of those who ask for baptism.

Once installed, you will find three new service templates in the Holy Baptism section in Visual Liturgy.

The template “Additional Texts for Holy Baptism in Accessible Language (as printed)” has the new texts together with the introduction and guidance notes. This is not intended as a ready to use service, but as a resource.

The templates “Baptism at Holy Communion using the Additional Texts in Accessible Language” and “Baptism using the Additional Texts in Accessible Language” are sample services that you can use as-is or adapt to your needs. Note that there are choices to be made depending on whether the candidates for baptism are able to answer for themselves.

This update also requires an update to the Visual Liturgy software, designed to improve its use for Daily Prayer and to fix some small issues. This is also available in online update.
