The Service overview

This demonstration is taken from Visual Liturgy 4.0 for Common Worship. As part of the effort to make Visual Liturgy 4.0 for Common Worship as user-friendly as possible, the newest addition to the program is the Service overview screen.

Unlike the other service views, the Service overview looks very different to the classic Service list which was the mainstay of previous versions. Some users of Visual Liturgy's previous versions did not enjoy using the Service list with its complicated options and intimidating length. The Service overview provides an alternative, taking away the confusion and making the construction of a service easy and efficient.

The Service overview works on the premise that many users will not always need to make extensive changes to a Service template, and thus don't need to work through all the details.

The Service overview allows users to glance quickly through the service by providing four panels. In each panel are the elements of a service that change most frequently - readings, hymns, other liturgical items such as the Collect and the people involved in the service.

Users can view and alter these 'major' items in a service while the minor details are hidden out of sight. This removes any need to hunt for items in the Service list and readings, hymns, and other items can be changed swiftly.
