Working with a service

The following sequence shows how Visual Liturgy helps you plan and prepare services. This demonstration is taken from Visual Liturgy 3.0 for Common Worship.

The service opens

Select the image for a full-size version

When the service opens, you will see this split screen. The left hand panel is called the service list. It shows the structure of the service. The right hand panel shows the full text.

The two panels are linked: when you select an item in the service list, the full text jumps to that point in the service. Note that the collect, readings and post communion prayer are already in place.

Visual Liturgy services retain their structure even after you have opened them, so you can easily juggle the order of events, or add or remove texts. You can move items within a service by dragging and dropping from the service list. You can choose alternative texts by using the Choose text feature, which presents a list of all those items suggested for any point in the service. You can add and remove hymns and songs.

The Notes at the bottom of the screen provide space for any relevant liturgical information to be displayed.

Best of all, Visual Liturgy services can be saved as templates for future use. Your work can, therefore, be used and built upon on future occasions.
