Frequently asked questions

I want to know the readings for a particular Sunday. How do I find them?

There are two main ways to find out this information.

Lectionary calendar

To use the Lectionary calendar, click the Calendar icon on the Option bar.

Calendar icon

Once you reach the Lectionary Calendar, double-click on an event in the Calendar and a dialogue will pop-up that shows the correct collect and readings.

Visual Liturgy’s calendar has several advantages over a printed version.

  • Double-click a reading, and the full text appears where available, along with other details about the text.
  • The Calendar records all your saved services.
  • You have the ability to add Diary entries.
  • There is space for your own notes, automatically recorded.
  • Finally, you can do a reverse lookup, for example to find the date of Easter in a particular year. To do this click the Find event button.

Service templates

If you need more than just the readings - for example, the collect or the proper preface - you can make use of the service templates to get what you need.
