Frequently asked questions

I have problems with my floppy disks

"A device attached to the system is not functioning"

This page explains what to do when you see the error message: "A device attached to the system is not functioning - A:/setup.exe" (where A: is the label assigned to the floppy disk drive).

If you see this error message, it means that there is a hardware fault reading the file from the disk. Either the disk in A: is faulty and needs to be replaced, or the drive itself is faulty or dirty.

If you have problems using other disks as well, then please contact your hardware manufacturer for support, as the problem is likely to lie with your disk drive.

If you do not have problems with other disks in that drive, only with the Visual Liturgy disk, then it is probable that the individual Visual Liturgy floppy disk that has become corrupt over time.

We are finding that the earliest versions of Visual Liturgy, which have now been around for some time, are particularly prone to this error now. Floppy disks do deteriorate over time and these now aged disks are causing problems. It is a problem that can affect any floppy disk under certain storage conditions, or sometimes simply with age and/or repeated use.

We would advise you to make regular back-up copies of your installation disks to prevent old disks corrupting your files. However, if you find that your disk is faulty, then please post the faulty disk to Church House Publishing and we will send you a replacement by return of post. You should keep the packaging, inlay leaflets and registration detials, etc. Please send your disk to:
